Learn about the different children's book genres (and how to write them) in this two part workshop.

The Children's Book Anatomy Workshop is a 12 lesson email course.
I have divided it into 2 parts: Lessons 1-6 and Lessons 7-12.

I will send you a new lesson each Wednesday.
You have 2 weeks to complete each lesson, so each part of the workshop lasts 8 weeks.

In lessons #7-12, you will study six children's book genres and see how their anatomy varies from the realistic fiction books you read in Lessons #1-6. You will be asked to read 3 children's books in each genre. (You can read books for any age of childhood in this half of the workshop.) Now we are looking for variations in book structure. How are these books organized? What do readers expect to see when they read these genres? Pre-requisite: Children's Book Anatomy Workshop #1-6.

After you discover the age and genre that is right for you, take the Intensive Picture Book Workshop or the Children's Novels Workshop and begin writing your own children's book!
