Just the Facts (Gr. 3+)
Author Visit Program

Learn how to apply the six traits of writing
from an author who uses them everyday.

How do you organize your ideas when you write a report? Where do you start? In Just the Facts, I talk about nonfiction and the second trait of writing, organization.

As I read excerpts from my nonfiction chapter books and my sports history series I talk with the students about six ways to organize nonfiction: Familiar to Unfamiliar, Simple to Complex, Chronological, General to Specific, Compare and Contrast, and Problem to Resolution. The pattern you use depends on the information you are trying to convey. After the readings, we have questions and answers.

I will sign books during lunch and at the end of the day.

Just the Facts is a 45 minute program.
AV needs : a cart with a laptop and projector,
