Host the Carnival...

Q. Can I host the Carnival of Children's Literature?

A. If you have a children's literature blog, you can host a monthly round-up. (The 2010 calendar filled up in less than a day! Email me if you would like to host in 2011.)

Q. What does a host do?

A. Here are the steps:

Before the carnival:

  1. Select a month to host.
  2. Select a date near the end of the month for the carnival.
  3. Send me your blog url, the carnival date, your deadline for sending in posts, and your email address.
  4. I will add your info to the carnival widget, so all of the posts for your carnival go directly to you.
  5. Please save all of the carnival emails (as a back-up.)

Creating your Carnival post:

  1. One day before your carnival deadline, the carnival software will create a master copy of all the posts.
  2. The blog carnival software will send you a link to the master so you can edit it. (Please remove the ads.)
  3. We're a monthly carnival, so only include 1 post per month per blog.
  4. Use the master to create a carnival round-up post with a short summary of each person's topic and links.
  5. Name the post: "_MONTH_ Carnival of Children's Literature"
  6. Give the carnival a theme based on the posts. (Optional)
  7. The carnival software will continue to send posts until the deadline, so you can add any "last minute" posts.

On the day of the carnival:

  1. Upload the carnival post.
  2. Announce the carnival so we can go and read it!
