Host the Carnival...
Q. Can I host the Carnival of Children's Literature?
A. If you have a children's literature blog, you can host a monthly round-up. (The 2010 calendar filled up in less than a day! Email me if you would like to host in 2011.)
Q. What does a host do?
A. Here are the steps:
Before the carnival:
- Select a month to host.
- Select a date near the end of the month for the carnival.
- Send me your blog url, the carnival date, your deadline for sending in posts, and your email address.
- I will add your info to the carnival widget, so all of the posts for your carnival go directly to you.
- Please save all of the carnival emails (as a back-up.)
Creating your Carnival post:
- One day before your carnival deadline, the carnival software will create a master copy of all the posts.
- The blog carnival software will send you a link to the master so you can edit it. (Please remove the ads.)
- We're a monthly carnival, so only include 1 post per month per blog.
- Use the master to create a carnival round-up post with a short summary of each person's topic and links.
- Name the post: "_MONTH_ Carnival of Children's Literature"
- Give the carnival a theme based on the posts. (Optional)
- The carnival software will continue to send posts until the deadline, so you can add any "last minute" posts.
On the day of the carnival:
- Upload the carnival post.
- Announce the carnival so we can go and read it!
